The Thicket of a Witch
blog is a personal project of mine that evolved from the desire to express
myself more and to use writing as a means to force me to look at my thoughts
from more perspectives than I would without committing to writing so that
others could understand what I was saying. I chose Witchcraft as my topic
because it is a topic I know, a topic that I am passionate about, and a topic
that I love to share with others. At the time, I didn't like to
write. Seriously though, I didn't. The plan was to only be
temporary but then something happened. I fell in love with writing.
Specifically the blog is
best understood from the paradigm of Initiatory Contemporary Witchcraft as
found here in the United States. As an initiate of three different
Witchcraft Traditions, initiatory craft is from where my own practice is
based. I, however, don't write to represent those Traditions and my blog
often wanders off into the thicket of my own exploration. Hence the
name. That and a subtle nod to the roebuck in the thicket symbology found
within the White Goddess by Robert Graves. I know that his work is one of
artistic expression and not at all "historically" accurate, but I'm
okay with that since it is the artistic beauty of this that appeals to
me. Such is the way of my Craft.
My interests from other
areas also influence my writing. I don't live in a bubble and I have an
intense love and interest in many things occult, magical, pagan, and related to
religious studies, as well as, mythology, folklore, art, etc, and so my Craft
as expressed here in this blog has hints of all of my experiences.
With all of that said, I
thoroughly enjoy sharing my thoughts about whatever Witchcraft fancy has come
to mind and hope that all that read herein find worth for themselves.
